Sunday Self Care
What is self care? Self care is any thing we intentionally do to take care of our physical, mental, and emotional health. It's putting our needs first, so that we can serve God, our families, our friends and work with our best selves. But.... sometimes, people see that as being selfish. I'm here to tell you it's not selfish at all!
I've spent the last year realizing that I have to care for myself before I can care for anyone or anything else. Woah. Yep- I just said that I have been putting myself first. Isn't that a crazy thought?
As women, we are naturally programmed to take care of everyone and everything around us. Yep- I realize your kids, husband, parents, etc need you ALL the time. However, if you fail to care for yourself first, how exactly can you take care of someone else?
Caregiver burn out is real- whether you have kids or elderly parents or just are caring for the day to day life struggles in a household (even if you live alone).
This is why I decided to start the Sunday Self Care Challenge. Every Sunday in the Hello Sunshine Facebook group, I will post a small list of things you can do to care for yourself during the week. Choose one...or do them all! You can even do something different than what I post. As long as you are taking care of yourself- even for just a few minutes each day- that's what matters!
This week, the list I posted is below:
1). Take a walk by yourself.
2). Paint your nails.
3). Pray or meditate.
